Our Probate Fees
No Upfront Fees
Our goal is to make the probate process as stress-free as possible. All that is needed to start the process is the death certificate of the deceased, the original Will (if there is one), and a rough description of the assets owned by the deceased person.
-
- No upfront payment required.
- Professional fees to obtain probate are capped and only payable once there is money collected from the estate.
- Unlike most other legal practices, we do not by default charge the maximum capped fee. For straightforward matters, we offer a lower fixed rate.
How Much Are Probate Fees?
There are three components to probate fees:
-
-
- Court Filing Fee: The Court Filing fee is paid to the Supreme Court of NSW at the time you lodge your application for probate. Court fees range from about $900 for small estates to over $4,000 for larger estates.
-
- Professional Fees to Obtain Probate: Fees start from about $1,500 including GST for small estates and increase in accordance with the value of the estate.
- Professional Fees After Grant of Probate: This covers all the work in the administration of the estate after a grant of probate is obtained, including the collection of estate assets and distribution to beneficiaries. We will provide you a fee estimate at the outset of a matter.
